Can anyone help me find a recipe? Dhaal piaza

Our local Indian takeaway does a vegetarian side dish called Dhaal piaza (as spelled on the menu).

It's a really spicy fried lentil type thing with I think gram flour and it has green chilli in it. Its not flat like a fritter- looks a bit like fried chicken in shape. It's absolutely delicious- but all I can find goggling is chicken dopiaza which it definitely isn't!

Could it be moong dal pizza? (think it's properly called moonglet).

Blend soaked moong dal into a thick paste/batter with ginger, garlic, chilli, salt and other spices, adding some baking powder & lemon juice. Cook in pan with extra stuff on top.

Is it dal vada your looking for maybe?

Try searching for Dahl daal dal fritters or pancakes it might help you find it

Something like this? If you use less water you'd get a thicker paste which you could dip in gram flour batter before frying.

Bengali dishes are quite different from Indian recipes in some ways, and "Indian" encompasses thousands of different types of cuisines, so like to be tricky finding the exact thing! Best way is just trial and error. Start with something that looks close, then adjust it next time you make it. Or, you may find something you prefer along the way!
