Riots in Sheffield/ how safe is it

Hi all I’m a POC and am planning on taking a trip to Sheffield as a family of four. We’re due to be there from this Friday until next Thursday however I’m unsure if it is safe with all the riots going on. We’re going by train and I don’t want to get caught up in any of the trouble or with any of the rioters. Just wondering if anyone in Sheffield can share any thoughts
Thanks

No-one can say for sure as this is very much an unprecedented event. I wouldn't risk it, you don't want to mentally scar your children if they experience hostility

Really don't know. Unrest is forecast in our local town tonight (none previously) and DD has been told anyone walking/getting bus can leave early - really hoping this doesn't escalate. We know it's the small minority but worth checking where worst area is and staying away.

I work in Sheffield. I was there this morning. I came home as a precaution but there were no evident protestors in town when I left at 1.30 despite a rumor of a "protest" at 1pm.
There was a bit of an eerie feeling in the centre this morning but I'm not sure if I was just sensitive to it as I'd hear the rumors.
Lots of police around, lots of families enjoying the centre and the city looked as diverse as ever.

I obviously can't guarantee anything won't happen next week, but I do think we're seeing the tail end of the disruption now.

So very sorry that you have to consider this. I live in Sheffield and my local Facebook group has lots of posts from people offering help, lifts, getting shopping if people don’t feel able to go out, accompanying people if they want to go out on foot and don’t feel safe. Just to give you an idea of the pushback against these awful events.

I’m so sorry you have to go through this at the moment. Honestly? I’d hold off until things have settled down a bit. Big riots planned tonight and over the weekend, I’d avoid it.

I just heard from my partner that there was a rumour of a protest today outside the immigration advice centre, more than 500 people turned out to counter-demonstrate and the far right protestors were nowhere to be seen.
