Me and partner went out for food and drinks
Just the two of us
This was the table they put us on
It was ridiculously close to other people

Would you be annoyed sat here?

No that looks like a normal table for two? Do you mean they had loads of empty seats and they put you right next to someone else?

girlputyourrecordsonn · 06/08/2024 21:01

There were other bigger tables empty and felt like we were that close ,we couldn't speak properly.
we were doing bottomless brunch so it was too small
We couldn't eat our food and have drinks on the table.

Yeh. Can’t stand that. I think they do it to save time for the waiting staff and to create an atmosphere. I’d rather not be sitting right on top of strangers

pinkfluffymonkey · 06/08/2024 21:06

It would be okay for coffee but not for dinner.

I hate small tables and feeling squashed in. Mind you, I could cope with a really lovely old pub but that's different.

Sleepychicken · 06/08/2024 21:08

Did you ask to move if there were empty tables?

I would be annoyed if there were empty tables and they refused my request to move but I wouldn’t be annoyed to be sat there.

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 06/08/2024 21:09

It's a bit close. Trying to make as much money as possible? It's not fun when you can't relax because you know you can be overheard.
Reminds me of when DH and I went out to celebrate that we'd just found out I was pregnant. The tables were so close we were virtually sitting on top of next door. Although we kept our voices low the woman at the next table suddenly chimed in that she'd smoked right through both her pregnancies and her kids had been fine 😆Yeah, thanks random woman.

Did you ask to move then? It’s a table for two so unless you asked I wouldn’t expect to be sat on a bigger table

Justmuddlingalong · 06/08/2024 21:25

I wouldn't mind being close to other customers, but that table is only suitable for drinks, not enough room for plates.
I'd just order drinks and go somewhere roomier for food if I was sat there.

I prefer more space but I’ll always ask to move or be seated elsewhere if they try and put me somewhere that looks cramped or in a crap place - did you ask?
