Do you ever cook dinner and think…

Damn I am so good! 🤣

Jerk chicken legs and thighs, rice&peas, corn on the cob and coleslaw.

It was absolutely banging if I say so myself - I told my husband he is lucky to have me.

I’m always being mocked for my response to my own meals 🤣🤣🤣🤣

yours sounds great. We compliment others meals for us, so we should compliment ourselves too!!

newnamethanks · 06/08/2024 19:11

No. I don't, quite the reverse😀 I'm glad it was good for you.

2AND2GC · 06/08/2024 19:11

Dead right I do!

Last night DH did chicken wrapped in bacon and he was really pleased as we'd had a very busy weekend and he was knackered.

Kiztittumne · 06/08/2024 19:13

My grown up sons laugh at me when I really enjoy my own food. It doesn’t stop them turning up to devour my legendary roast dinners though.

I do such a fantastic roast.

No. I don't, quite the reverse😀 I'm glad it was good for you.

Same these days 😅

OP that sounds epic and has inspired me. Sounds very doable. Luckily for me we’ve just ordered a Nando’s which is basically that.

PruneInTheNest · 06/08/2024 19:15

Usually I think why did I bother (kids going through a frustrating picky phase when they’re usually good eaters) 😂

Decoratingdilema · 06/08/2024 19:16

Honestly kids have taken all the joy out of cooking for me. I am a good cook but they’ve broken me 😂

invisiblecat · 06/08/2024 19:17

Oh yes! 😁😂

Sgtmajormummy · 06/08/2024 19:18

Usually for cakes, the last time was a beautiful fluffy lemon meringue pie.
And when everything comes to the table together on Christmas Day I do a quick air punch!

Ponderingwindow · 06/08/2024 19:18

Yes. I make some amazing meals.
my picky family won’t eat any of them so they are missing out. Sometimes It does make it easier to make something really special when you only have to make one portion.

Decafflatteplease · 06/08/2024 19:20

I'm not the best cook in the world but I make dinner every night as DH doesn't get home until 6 and he often says thank you for making dinner. It's lovely when he does this, just an appreciation of the mental load!

SaltandPepper22 · 06/08/2024 19:22

@Decafflatteplease DH is very good at enthusing about dinner to be fair to him. I often make his lunch for work as well and he usually messages me in the middle of the day to say he enjoyed it.

I sound like a right mug doing that but food is definitely a love language for me.

Sometimes you just know it was excellent lol

@KimKardashiansLostEarring its Perry straight forward.

  • Coat chicken in a bit of jerk seasoning (you can make this yourself or buy it pre made) and I chucked a bit of leftover white wine in too
  • Shove in the oven for half an hour
  • while it’s cooking cook your rice with kidney beans in coconut milk, salt pepper and more jerk and some fresh thyme. Don’t drain it, let the rice absorb the coconut milk.
  • serve with a healthy dollop of coleslaw!

I frequently remind DH and DCs to compliment me on my cooking 😂

soundsys · 06/08/2024 19:25

Ha that sounds 🤤

I do, I try to role model positive self talk for my young children, which mostly centres around me telling myself who tasty things are 🤣

(I don't do this around adults:out in the real world, I promise I'm not a complete weirdo 🤣)

coxesorangepippin · 06/08/2024 19:27

Rarely these days really

But when I do, it's dee licious

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/08/2024 19:29

No because my husband does the cooking. I’ll get my coat …. 😁

HopelessAndWondering · 06/08/2024 19:36

100%

letmeeatinpeace · 06/08/2024 19:36

I'm not religious but when I cook something GOOD I feel like God is somehow communicating through the food lol. In all seriousness, there is something miraculous and beautiful going on, specially so when it's a simple recipe.

henlake7 · 06/08/2024 19:37

Not me so much....I have been living on hummus and rice cakes for weeks!😆

I do make a damn fine salad though!

OlympicsFanGirl · 06/08/2024 19:39

Yes. Some of my meals are spectacular.

GordonRamsey · 06/08/2024 19:47

Yep. Every f*cking day.

Open a bag of peanuts and I think."Whoa, how good am I?"

Peel the lid of a (Mister Man) yoghurt and I shout "Way to go, man!"

I'm unstoppable.

Frivolitiesandfripperies · 06/08/2024 20:04

No, I usually hate whatever it is by the time I’ve cooked it and put it on the table! Used to love baking but never been a keen cook, DH does all the cooking in our house. Occasionally I will apply myself and make a recipe and the kids fall off their chairs in surprise. Fussy kids have contributed to this lack of love for cooking definitely, maybe it’ll return when they leave home

Thornrose · 06/08/2024 20:09

Yep and I sometimes even take photos 😂

Gotta back yourself...
