What was the fascination with Pierrot in the 80s?

I remember thus being on everything, there was bedding, wallpaper, note books, clothing, bags. Why was it so popular?? Where did it come from? Was there something on TV?

I hated Pierrot. I had a Holly Hobby book though.

My first kiss, an older boy, had an attic bedroom with everything in diagonal red, black, grey and white stripes. I have fond memories of that room. 😉

In the '90s, we rented a furnished flat that was full of Eternal Beau, including a wall clock. It also had gold bath taps and shower fittings.

Anyone remember Victoria Plum? I had her all over my bedroom as an 8 yr old. Maybe she was the poor relation to Holly Hobbie?

I moved onto Pierrot in my sophisticated years (early teens)!

I had forgotten this. It was the whole aesthetic then- ashes to ashes video, new romantics, I love it all!

Does anyone remember Country Companions...with the hedgehog, badger mouse etc? Not sure if that was 80s or 90s.

My gran bought me a Holly Hobbie plushie doll, then the following year I got the Holly Hobbie Secret Dollhouse for Christmas (the house was hidden under her patchwork skirt and her legs went into the chimney) it was awesome. I also received a novel where she comes to life and goes on an adventure in South America with a young girl. It was so good I even tracked it down and repurchased it about 10 years ago. 😅

I would love my Secret House again though, but they are so expensive on Ebay I can't justify buying it. 😶
