A good (free) app to track and split shared costs?

Any suggestions and pros and cons please? We are three families going on holiday so I think an app which we can all just pop expenditure into would be a good way to keep track. There seem to be a few around, and if free presumably there's a catch?

I downloaded tricount after hearing about it on a podcast I like. We didn't end up using it but basically (I think) everyone can share it or one person enters all the info of who has spent what, and at the end it calculates who owes what to whom.

You might want to look into it a bit more as like I said we didn't actually use it but it did look really useful! It was free.

Splid or Splitwise. Both good and free and do the job.

Split wise is very good

I find Splitwise the most intuitive and user friendly - you just have to remind people that when they go to “settle up”, simply clicking the button doesn’t magically connect their bank account / PayPal to that of the person they’re settling up with - they either have to ensure that functionality is set up by both parties, or actively make a payment / transfer outside of Splitwise. It sounds obvious, but loads of people don’t realise it.

We’ve used splid on a few group holidays and it’s worked really well.

Thank you, I'll look at those. I hadn't even realised there might be a bank account link! I was just looking for the next step on from a google sheet!
