I am so stressed and physically ill, due to being scammed by the comparison energy site, Bionic, and their despicable business practice.
In 2021 we used Bionic to source a 3 year contract with our energy provider. As our contract is coming up for renewal, we received notification from our energy provider that outlined new tariff rates which were far above what our initial contract rate was, and we decided to explore other options without using another comparison site. Eventually, we decided to go with British Gas, our gas supplier, and signed a 12-month renewal contract.
We received an email from British Gas stating,
‘That they have been notified by our existing energy supplier, have objected to your transfer to British Gas’ and requesting us to get in contact with our current energy provider.'
After contacting our energy supplier it transpires that Bionic were the ones who contracted our energy supplier on our behalf. The only communication we had had with Bionic was a phone call reminding us that our energy contract was coming up for renewal and asked if we were happy for them to find the best rate, which I agreed too, but told them I was going to get other quotes. There was no discussion, nor highlighting the fact that they were automatically going rollover an energy contract on our behalf. The our energy supplier's customer service representative advised us to contact Bionic.
Bionic stated that they had sent an email prior to us receiving the quote. I have gone through my deleted folder and find that a sales rep did send me an email with an unacceptable rate and I confess that I had not read it as a the time I was getting undated with utility company phishing emails and phone calls. I also noted that nowhere in the email did they highlight that the length of the electrical supply contract was for 3 years.
Bionic also stated that they had emailed us the contract stating terms and if we did not respond within 5 working days they would assume that we had accepted the contract terms and conditions. I dispute that they sent us a follow up email, I have gone through my deleted folder and all I can find is the initial email from the sales rep.
One would have to consider that length of the supply contract was very important detail to be highlighted in Bionic's initial email and that they would also be sending another email with terms and conditions. Also, I am under the impression that legally Bionic have to state their commission fee along with the quote. This was not done!
Has anyone else who has a business had the same experience?
