I'm wearing a 20 year old skirt, I love it but it's a bugger to iron so I don't wear it much. I'm just pleased it still fits!

Undies bought in 2021. Cotton sweater & crops in 2022

If you had asked yesterday, my shorts were 18 years old. Still look like new. 😊

UtterlyOtterly · 06/08/2024 13:44

Socks, maybe 25 to 30 years old. I was clearing out some stuff which had been boxed and stored during a major house project. Lots of stuff in the "If you haven't used it in 30 years you don't need it" category which has now gone to charity shops. But a random packet of five pretty pairs of socks was in there, like a treat waiting to be discovered.

Dorothy Perkins, in case anyone wonders.

T-shirt is 6 years old, shorts I can't remember when I bought them but probably 7 or 8 years. Pants a couple of months as I've gotten fat this pregnancy. Bra is 5 years old...a nursing bra bought when I was pregnant with DD.

SardinesOnGingerbread · 06/08/2024 13:45

Knickers, about six years.

GrouchyKiwi · 06/08/2024 13:47

Socks about 15 years old. They languished at the back of the drawer for years and I've only just started wearing these particular ones again.

My jeans are about 9 years old, I think. Bought them about 3 weeks before discovering I was pregnant with DD3 so they didn't get worn for a few years!

I finally parted with a 15 year old dressing gown only last year. I'm still mourning it

Not sure if this counts but my daughter is wearing my dressing gown that my mum gave to me about 18 years ago. Mum passed away 11 years ago and although there is some wear in the bum area from sitting down I will keep it and then my daughter will have it. I love my dressing gown and would be wearing it if this permanent menopausal hit flush would do one!

BobbyBiscuits · 06/08/2024 13:48

I'm actually wearing the oldest piece of clothing I own today. A cream St Micheal Slip I inherited from my mum from the 70s! It's too see through to wear as a dress but I wear it as a nightie. Very good for hot weather.

Milliemoo1908 · 06/08/2024 13:48

Just to add, my mum had tne dressing gown for a few years before giving it to me so could be about 20 years old 😁

CoffeandTiaMaria · 06/08/2024 13:52

Shirt about 10 years old, jeans 2 years old, bra ?2 years old, knickers the same.
oldest piece of clothing I have is a sweater that’s at least 20 years old, and it’s still wearable!

DeclansAFeckingDream · 06/08/2024 13:52

Hoodie from Go Outdoors (in north of Scotland - no heatwave here 😂) is about 15 years old.

SusanSHelit · 06/08/2024 13:58

My top is 15 years old. It's only a Spaghetti strap top but it was from m&s when they actually made decent quality stuff and still looks like it did the day I got it. I am more pleased it still fits though than anything else

TheNoonBell · 06/08/2024 14:03

A very old t-shirt from the US, probably 20 years old but I use it for gardening so not a problem.

Isthiscorrect · 06/08/2024 14:07

A bikini which the label tells me is from BHS. I have no idea how old it is. I can't ever recall shopping there.

invisiblecat · 06/08/2024 14:19

Right this minute, some socks that are probably about 10 years old. The oldest item of clothing I still wear is a top I bought for a holiday in 1992.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/08/2024 15:22

All relatively new stuff, I think my trousers are from 2018. But I'm thinking about swapping for a skirt which is one of my summer favourites which is from 1991

elliejjtiny · 06/08/2024 20:24

Not wearing it at the moment but my dressing gown is one my mum and dad got for me when I was pregnant with dc1 who is now 18. My favourite nightie is the same age and has survived 1.5 labours and a c-section but still looks like new.

Ineedaholidayagain · 07/08/2024 19:52

I'm loving all the old clothes, glad to see I'm not the only one who hangs on to favourite bits.

Nike air force ones, they're ancient. Eldest DD handed them on to me as they're apparently now " mum trainers" 🤣 I've had them four years, she had them for roughly the same.

MissingMoominMamma · 07/08/2024 19:56

My knickers; they’re around six years old (and showing their age).

I do have some very old clothes though.

Turophilic · 07/08/2024 19:56

Knickers, about 10 years old. I'm expecting a period soon so it's ancient knickers until that's over.

I do own plenty of things in their 20s (night clothes and coats on the whole) but mostly I wear clothes until they are worn out. Then they are demoted to gardening clothes, and after that, the fabric bin.

Digimoor · 07/08/2024 19:57

30 year old sweatshirt

Lifeinlists · 07/08/2024 20:21

I was wearing a linen sleeveless blouse yesterday that I bought in 2005. Alex and Co. Still in excellent condition and comes up like new when washed and ironed.
Maybe the fact that we don't get too many warm days to wear it has something to do with it too!

I have a Laura Ashley edwardian blouse that I bought in 1980. I'm not size 10 any more though Blush. Lovely blouse with lots of happy associations.

Feckedupbundle · 07/08/2024 20:25

I'm not wearing it now,but still wear a shirt that I bought from Richards ( remember them?) in 1985. It still looks as good as new and DD1 borrowed it last year,so it must have come back into fashion again.

Berlinlover · 07/08/2024 20:26

My bra is about three years old.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 07/08/2024 20:27

Ancient, ratty Monsoon cardigan that I bought in about 1999. Ideal for mooching around the house and amazingly soft, but the sleeves are getting frayed.
