NHS weight loss programme being rolled out

What do people think of this? I don't get why they don't put more resources into rolling out the injections, people with diabetes are already eligible for them through the NHS afaik. They are proven to be effective and, with good supervision, there seems to be little risk. I heard a Prof on Radio4 who said there is a lot of data, evidence and experience showing they are safe, it surprised the interviewer who was expecting them to say they are experimental and fatties should work harder for it. I can't link to that, I heard it in passing and can't remember when or what programme it was

this programme is great IF paired with therapy/cooking instruction/budget help/treatment of contributing illness.

but exactly that's where the nhs is shit not very good at and not joint up enough.

It is paired with this.

Eating unhealthy food is an addiction like smoking, drinking, drugs ect. Diets whether it's soup and shakes, injections, slimming world or calorie counting will only work and be maintained if the person truly wants it to. It's irrelevant how you do it. Regaining weight after dieting had zero to do with the type of diet you where on and everything to do with the person doing the diet. We all know the drill less carbs, more protein, more fruit and veg, and more exercise whether you do this to maintain or go back to how you ate previously is 100% your choice and it's on you not the type of diet. It really annoys me when people blame specific diets for their weight gain it isn't the diet it's you, it's your responsibility to maintain the weight. I also think it makes you a really shitty person when people are trying to do something really positive for their health and people comment how when they stop the weight will pile back on just because that happened to them. That is literally like saying to a drug addict no point it stopping you will only start again I did. Have you ever thought some people just have more will power then others and just because you failed doesn't mean others will. Take some responsibility for yourselves and stopping trying to discourage others in the process to make yourself feel better. Rant over and breath sorry I been doing vlcd for 12 weeks lost 3 stone now slowly introducing real food back in and iv heard this shit from people for 12 weeks.

My oh lost 5 stone doing this and there is an online course that you complete while on the programme and beyond .
This offers lots of useful advice and support
A year later he has kept the weight off and reversed his type 2 diabetes .
I cut out sugar and processed food at the same time as he started and I lost 3 and half stone, have also kept it off.

It's precisely because it is so hard to stick to that it's successful .He doesn't want to have to go back on the shakes so is very careful with what he eats .
I also put a lot of effort into modifying our diet so that when he could transition back on to real food it was healthy .
We have transformed our lives and feel so much fitter .

Am not convinced that a quick fix injection would have been so rewarding.

Wow well done to you and your husband and I think your right redoing a vlcd fills me with dread so I know I will never allow myself to get to that point again of needing to. It's not easy at all but totally worth it for the results
