How amazing is it to watch someone achieve their life ambition at the age of 22 having worked their whole life to achieve it?

Does it make anyone else emotional to watch people winning gold medals?

Yes! She is a class act. So happy for her!

Lovetotravel123 · 05/08/2024 21:15

Yes, it makes me want to cry. Will also have fingers crossed for Eilish McColgan.

Onlyjams · 05/08/2024 21:16

The British have done so well so far at this Olympics it's been a really enjoyable games to watch (opening ceremony aside) I think this has been one of my favourites alongside London.

whatonearthishappenin · 05/08/2024 21:18

Getting up in the morning and putting the television on to watch medals being won is also such a joy!

Yes! I saw the women’s sprint team win and one of them cycle over to kiss their wee toddler. Imagine watching your Mum win gold! It’s brilliant, I’m loving the Olympics this year.

ConfusedKoala13 · 05/08/2024 21:20

Yes brilliant, and sort of under so much pressure because she was the poster girl of the team etc. Thrilled also for the cyclists earlier.
Work has interrupted my Olympic viewing today but generally just love it!

JL690 · 05/08/2024 21:22

Yes. She ran a brilliant race. I was fearful the commentators and pundits were going overboard and setting her up for a fall. So pleased for her that she won it in style.

EasternStandard · 05/08/2024 21:22

Yes very much so

Some make me teary, they are incredible athletes

Anjelika · 05/08/2024 21:22

She did amazingly. The 800m is a gruelling distance.

BingoBangow · 05/08/2024 21:24

She is incredible.

At 22 I was going out getting plastered every weekend going from one job to the next… 🥴

viques · 05/08/2024 21:24

Kelly ran an amazing race, she has made us all proud, but I am also thinking tonight of Lynsey Sharp who should have won a bronze medal in the 800m in Rio 2016.

You were robbed Lynsey, and you are owed a huge apology from the IOC.

PurpleReindeer2 · 05/08/2024 21:24

So pleased for her. She ran a fantastic race. Wonderful achievement. Many years ahead of her to achieve incredible things.

ssd · 05/08/2024 21:25

She was fantastic

Iknowjadon · 05/08/2024 21:26

She was superb

BearFacedCheek · 05/08/2024 21:26

Phenomenal achievement. How amazing to be an Olympic gold medal winner at 22!

Iknowjadon · 05/08/2024 21:27

Imagine how well she may do in years to come

Ted27 · 05/08/2024 21:31

Great moment
Also enjoying the Duplantis show again

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 05/08/2024 21:32

Yes! He's broken the World Record for the eighth time! Incredible.

Bronze?! She ran a PB and came in 6th place...

The 3 medal winners of the Rio Olympic 800m final were individuals with DSD XY chromosomes.

The medals were “won” by three genetic men, who shouldn’t ever have been allowed to run a in a Woman’s race.

Lynsey ran a personal best and should have been awarded a bronze for being the third fastest woman in a woman’s race.

Ineedaholidayyyy · 05/08/2024 22:00

Yes what an incredible achievement for her , after getting silver so many times, she has finally gone and done it!👏 I always think the 800m must be a tough event.

I completely missed this and i love sport, i feel like the only story was about Semenya at the time (but now that i think about it i was in a very busy work period in 2016 so maybe i just missed it). I just rewatched the race, wambui was almost pipped for 3rd!

Wonderful to watch Keeley win tonight, very much deserved.

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/08/2024 01:08

Keeley is fabulous and a proper role model to young girls.

Please can we leave the rest of the stuff off here - this is to celebrate a brilliant woman who races against other brilliant women.
