That's terrible. Such mindless destruction of a facility that exists for everyone's benefit.

UtterlyOtterly · 05/08/2024 17:19

I cannot understand how anyone, with any level of intelligence, believes that destroying a library will somehow make things better in any way whatsoever.

The fundraising is heartening.

GrazingSheep · 05/08/2024 21:31

I’ve just looked at the link - it’s now at £93,190. Bloody fantastic!

StSwithinsDay · 05/08/2024 21:32

The fundraising is heartening.

Completely agree with this.

ssd · 05/08/2024 21:35

It is fantastic.

What's wrong with these idiots??

GrazingSheep · 05/08/2024 21:37

It also serves as a foodbank.
The mindless stupidity is beyond belief.

Cabincrew1 · 05/08/2024 21:38

I used to go to this library it’s so sad 😢

itsgettingweird · 05/08/2024 21:40

Yeah the stupidity of destroying a food bank, job centre and library (which so far more bit were warm banks during the energy cost crisis) is beyond any words I will get away with using!

I'm glad people in general are in the right side of humanity.

valadon68 · 06/08/2024 21:44

Quick bump. Amazing to see so much support for this, though I'm sure they will need every penny raised so far and the local council will equally need a lot of cash to fix other damage in the area.

Ted27 · 06/08/2024 21:48

@BodenCardiganNot

Thank you for this.

This was my childhood library. I used to go with my nan so she could get the latest Mills and Boon and Catherine Cookson.

I was very sad to see this, my family still live off County Road

GrazingSheep · 07/08/2024 10:45

Matt Haig has donated £5000.
I am going to buy a couple of his books today.

Linton Street is about 5 minutes walk from the library, so he destroyed his own community facilities.

FishPie2 · 08/08/2024 20:00

So were 2 brothers who looted it in the early hours. Think local news said they got a year.
Nigella was one of the first people to donate to the fund.
