WHATSAPP AND APPLE CARPLAY

WHEN I PLUG IN MY IPHONE TO CAR PLAY, WHATAPS LOSES OUTGOING FUNCTIONALITY. I CANT SEND A MESSAGE AS IT SAYS THAT MY CONTACTS DONT HAVE WHATSAPP ENABLED. (THEY DO WHEN UNPLUGGED FROM CAR PLAY). IT DOES NOT RECEGNISE CONTACTS IF I DECIDE TO MAKE A CALL THROUGH WHATS APP, YET UNPLUGGED YES IT WORKS. I AHVE TRIED ALSORTS AND APPLE SUPPORT WASHED THEIR HANDS OF ME AS ITS A 3RD PARTY APP. ALSO TRIED TO CONTACT WHATSAPP BUT YOU CAN NOT GET THROUGH TO SUPPORT AS YOU ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO TALK TO A BOT WHICH DOES NOT HELP AT ALL OR HAS ANY RELEVANT ANSWERS.. CAN ANYONE HELP ME ?

Is your phone unlocked with whatsapp open? Mine only works that way with car play for calls.

I literally can't read this when it's all in capitals.

Me neither.

I have only used WhatsApp with CarPlay to reply to messages, when I receive a WhatsApp the car reads the message aloud to me and asks if I want to reply. If I say yes, I then verbally say what I want to reply and CarPlay types it out and sends the WhatsApp.
Is it your car or the phone settings that the issue may likely be, as it should work.

Firstly, you’re not alone with this issue - I’m experiencing it too (I feel your frustration too!!) and secondly this is a WhatsApp issue despite you using iOS (I’m ex Apple) as there are over 1.8 million apps on iOS and the developers have to update them which they normally do in good time. Occasionally Apple will try to fix but it’s up to WhatsApp primarily to resolve. I’m escalating it and looking to resolve but keep updating the app and iOS and keep trawling the web as the solution will appear shortly I’m sure.

Do you plug your phone in to use car play? I have this issue intermittently but find unplugging and then reattaching my phone usually solves it.

Hello. I am having exactly the same problem as of about 5 days ago, so any answers would be appreciated. It allows me to reply directly to a WhatsApp message but will not let me start a conversation, saying the contact does not have WhatsApp enabled, very frustrating!

Funnily enough, it did it to me last night?! Might be an update issue.
