Does everyone now get these texts minutes before an Amazon delivery or am I on a shit list?

So about a month ago it started and I get a twxt 5 mins before the Amazon guy comes saying he’ll be with me shortly and he needs my help to make the delivery. That they’re just letting me know they’re nearly here and could I secure any pets.

I’d assumed it was just a new “heads up” service.

dd has pointed out she thinks it’s targeted because our soppy bichon frise sounds like a hell hound at any delivery. She’d never do anything at all. But we have a new driver and the first time he came (just before the texts started) he nearly shit himself when I opened the door. Dog stays behind me giving it full beans from the safety of halfway down the hall. She would leg it into the kitchen if he said anything 😁

I feel bad as I haven’t been “putting her away”. 🙈

Yeah I've started getting them before each delivery. We only have a cat who is terrified of people knocking the door so don't think they are worried he is a threat!! Assume it's just a standard thing now?

CormorantStrikesBack · 04/08/2024 20:07

Oh I feel better. Thank you. I was worried I’d actually traumatised him.

Definitely standard... I got one the other week saying the same thing and to turn lights on if it was dark. I have no pets, and it was the middle of the day 😆

I get them too, and I don't have any pets. It might be a good idea to calm down your dog though.

Humdrumdumb · 04/08/2024 20:10

I’ve received them but not for every delivery. I have cats but no dogs.

Edit: and today was the first delivery by a new driver (we don’t have a regular) and no message.

NoTicket · 04/08/2024 20:12

I get them - no pets. Surprised no one has asked me to secure the 3 year old tho - likes to shout 'suprise!' whenever we open the door

Boxina · 04/08/2024 20:13

I never get texts like these and I get loads of Amazon deliveries. I have a cat who loves the front door so always comes with me to open it.

viccat · 04/08/2024 20:14

I've never got a text and get at least one Amazon delivery every week.

JollyHostess101 · 04/08/2024 20:15

I get them but only for one driver!! And they wouldn’t have even known we had a dog as they used to drop off at husbands work beneath our flat so don’t worry!!

motherhoodmcrollercoaster · 04/08/2024 20:15

Yup and they are annoying as hell 😠 we've got it defaulted that deliveries are to go to back door and that's ignored as well with the driver hammering hell out the front door which then wakes DD up and causes Ddog to go 🦇 💩 🤪 our regular driver has given up the run so it's a stream of random drivers

space99 · 04/08/2024 20:16

Think it must be driver specific. Only had it once out of last 5 deliveries.

CormorantStrikesBack · 04/08/2024 20:16

I’ve spent ten years trying to calm the dog down, it’s my one lost battle.

She’s an absolute sweetheart the rest of the time, great recall, very well behaved, great with dogs, walks to heel, sits when told.

But my God does she think she has to defend the house (and savage post).

To be honest she’d scare off any burglar so it’s maybe not the worst habit.

I get them, but not always - I've assumed it is something that delivery drivers can chose to add if they want. It's not targeted though cause we have not got a dog!

BobnLen · 04/08/2024 20:21

I have had a couple but then the delivery just comes as normal

RandomUsernameHere · 04/08/2024 20:21

I got one for the first time this week, also don't have a dog.

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 04/08/2024 20:22

I asked my amazon delivery guy as I kept getting the messages and he said it's a new thing they have to do for every delivery they make. I clicked on the link in the message to opt out.

BobnLen · 04/08/2024 20:23

Oh, we haven't got a dog

DontKeepScratchingIt · 04/08/2024 20:23

I've had those texts a few times. We haven't got any pets at all. The most recent one saying "your Amazon driver needs help with a delivery" was for 2 boxes of hair dye Grin

Is that because the driver was lost? We’ve had that one too.

PunishmentRoundupWithJoon · 04/08/2024 20:27

I get them too, but not always. A 'driver needs help with a delivery' text, telling me to secure pets and leave a light on if it's dark. I have no pets and it's never dark in my block of flats...

Roselilly36 · 04/08/2024 20:54

Yep, we don’t even have a dog. But I don’t get a text for every delivery so I wonder if it’s driver specific. I just ignore it.

JohnTheRevelator · 04/08/2024 21:15

I get them too. I have an elderly cat who is terrified of strangers and hides whenever anyone appears at the front door.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 04/08/2024 21:24

I got one but they weren't delivering to me they were delivering to a friends house in a different area. I've never had it for deliveries to my house.

SummerSnowstorm · 04/08/2024 21:26

We've never had that. Sounds like maybe it's down to driver preference and they can send it if they're anxious around animals

behindthemall · 04/08/2024 21:26

I think it’s driver specific. I get them too, and I’ve always thought it was just a heads up to make people answer the doors quicker as they’re expecting the knock so that each delivery takes less time
