sharing with male host at air bnb

Hello,

I've had a tough time finding reasonably priced accommodation in greater London. Recently found an airbnb in Kingston, however, it's sharing with a single male. No lock on bedroom door (clearly says that in the ad). There are reviews from female guests saying it was fine, but should I take the risk? or up my budget and stay elsewhere?

@Belladone I agree, not my usual thing either, but kind of desperate for a place. Doesn't seem worth the worry though.

I did in Boston inc a shared jack & Jill bathroom (with locking doors). There were clues in the photos that he was gay, and he was a superhost with many reviews. It was all fine.

You're clearly uncomfortable though, so don't.

He’s probably fine but if it means you can’t sleep a wink for worrying, it’s not worth it for saving a bit of money.

I stayed for a week in a single man’s spare room in the US a couple of years ago. I honestly didn’t give it a second thought. He had good reviews on Airbnb. Never occurred to me to worry to be honest. Perhaps I was naive? I had a fantastic time.

Get a portable travel lock for the door if you're worried. Best thing would be to read the reviews thoroughly. Is he a superhost?

@RogueFemale hey the portable lock thing is a good idea. I'll look into that. He's not a Superhost. It's list as guest favourite.
