Hi,
Please can someone help me make sense of the current passport rules for my DD as I’m getting so confused given children’s passports are only 5yrs in length.

We’re due to travel to Greece on 22nd Aug returning on 29 Aug and DD’s passport was issued on 10 Feb 2020 and expires on 10 Feb 2025.

Are we ok to travel or do I need a fast track appointment?

Well, what do the rules say for Greece? If she needs 6 months, then no, you'd be over (by unfortunately only 19 days)

up to you if you want to risk it

When I just booked my holiday, it said the passport needed to be issued with 10 years of arrival in the EU (which yours is) and valid for three months after the date we leave the EU (which yours is, it just needs to valid past 29 November).

Thank you- I can see lots of info for adult passports but not children’s but it looks like same rules apply.

The same rules apply everywhere in the EU. Here they are, copied directly from the relevant EU legislation (Regulation(EU) 2016/399, aka the Schengen Borders Code. The Greek immigration officials will literally have a copy of this, albeit in the Greek translation, on their desk.

As you can see, @Overthehills40, your DD's passport is fine. Children's passports cannot fall foul of the "being over 10 years old on the day of entry to the EU" rule because they are only valid for 5 (or perhaps 5 and a bit) years. You just need to have 3 months of validity left on the day of your intended exit.
