Covid 2024

Just had a Covid test line pop up so fast and fat that if it was a Clear Blue it’d be triplets.

NOT interested in hearing: why did you test/it’s just a cold/no rules any more/sheeple/not tested since 2020 any of that. I did and it’s done now.

I’ve had to cancel plans I was looking forward to, NOT because it’s the law but because I feel junk and don’t want to spread that feeling (been out and about all week so will have spread it unwittingly regardless).

I’m juggling lots of plates and this is just one more thing to start them falling atm. Now I’ve got a sore throat, sore ears, bunged up brain, cough and snot dropping down my face hence the testing.

So. If you’ve had Covid recently, what were your symptoms and how long did it last? (And what can I order from Tesco that will make it more bearable
, not that I ate for a week last time I don’t think…)

i also had aches, in strange places like my little finger and my teeth

My mums on day 11 of symptoms and has been bed bound. Terrible gastro - really bad diaohrrea how she's started vomiting yesterday.

LividCovid · 06/08/2024 11:01

Nervously coming on to say I feel much better today. Stories of people bedbound for weeks are making me worried in case I have a second wave.

Line still strong positive, but less neon glowing than it was on Saturday.

Been up a ladder this morning painting ceilings while I feel capable. Sending Lemsip vibes to anyone who needs them.

I'm reading here of someone having symptoms for 11 days. On other threads people are having symptoms for 14 days, even 18 days and 21 days.

My mother has COVID and I am encouraging her to contact her GP for paxlovid so that the virus/infection will be shortened. She's on day 4 by the way. She's refusing to do it because she doesn't want to deal with the side effects of the medicine. It's such a hibbie naturalpath thing to refuse medicine when she needs it but she was never like this when I was younger. She was always someone who would over exaggerated her symptoms to the GP and feel better just by holding a prescription for antibiotics. She would rather deal with the virus and the side effects of the virus.

It's unreal.

I’ve tested negative today.

I’m still feeling like death warmed up but back to work tomorrow.

LividCovid · 06/08/2024 14:48

How many days is that @Witchbitch20 ?

6 days @LividCovid

LividCovid · 06/08/2024 14:51

Thanks. I’m on day four but probably had symptoms two days before that…

We've all just had it as a family. Two kids had mild fevers and snots which passed quickly.

DH and I had what felt like bad colds. Snots, mild sore throat, coughs, lack of appetite, exhaustion, mild fevers, night sweats, upset stomachs.

It passed quite quickly (5 days) but mine has now gone to my chest.

ITestedPositiveForCovid · 06/08/2024 14:54

I had vertigo, aching all over, cold sweats, slept twenty hours a day. Tested positive instantly and aggressively like you described OP, for around ten days. Not much coughing and no cold symptoms, sense of smell and taste unaffected but my appetite was completely gone.

Still not feeling right, like my battery is depleted. Loads of mouth ulcers and persistent headaches and sore throat. It’s been about three weeks since I tested positive, been negative for over a week now. Losing track of time though.

ITestedPositiveForCovid · 06/08/2024 14:56

Hope you are feeling better soon OP.

Had what I suspect was it the other week (didn't test - just WFH and took leave when too ill to do that) - just the sinus infection and snot waterfall from hell for about 3 days of feeling shite and then a couple of days of just feeling tired.

My sinuses hate me anyway so them going into full on bastard mode is fairly typical.

I tested positive today 😞 I seemed to have a cold (lots of sneezing and a funny feeling in my nose) then that eased off for a day or two - but then made a sudden return, with loads of sneezing and snottiness.

I just assumed it was another cold, but then I started shivering violently and felt freezing even though the thermostat said 22.5 degrees. I went to bed and spent all night burning hot. Woke up this morning with an absolutely soaking nightshirt. So, I tested and the Postive came up the fastest and darkest I’ve ever had (I’ve had Covid two or three times before). Now feeling like my head and ears are full of snot; very aching back, knees and thigh muscles; headache; hot and cold at the same time; and generally rough.

This is far more snotty than my previous bouts. I found this thread when I googled as I find it helpful to read what symptoms others have. So - profuse sneezing and a pain in nose that makes you want to press against it, feeling very cold and night sweats. Hope it goes soon!

I had COVID in 2021 when my baby was five weeks old. I had a fever and felt extremely weak but thought that was due to the mastitis I was fighting off. My throat felt like it had broken glass in it I ate boxes and boxes of ice lollies to try to soothe my throat but nothing worked, started to feel dizzy whenever I stood up so stayed laying down. Eventually got antibiotics and started to make a recovery almost immediately but noticed that I had completely lost taste and smell. Took a few months to get my strength back and about 8 months to get taste and smell back fully
