And what month. Already done NYC. I like...

Cold, crispy weather but not loads of snow and wind etc (hate heat)
Being outdoors walking / kayaking
Wildlife
The ocean
Shopping
Museums
Quiet little restaurants

Seattle? Boston?

Solo female traveller so somewhere reasonably safe...

Maine!

Please elaborate?? I have actually been thinking about Maine. Would I need to hire a car? It's my main stumbling block. I'm just not brave enough 😔

Massachusetts, I've only been to Boston not anywhere else in the state, but absolutely loved it. It ticks a lot of your boxes. I went in April and it wasn't hot then. I'd love to go for Halloween!

I didn't hire a car in Boston, walked a lot and used the "T".

I would do Washington State or Oregon. I live Oregon. I grew up on the east coast and we went to visit family who lived in Bend and it always felt so magical. Definitely do something west coast or southwest. It’s very different from the northeast.

The mountains of North Carolina in October. Breathtaking.

Justawaterformeplease · 03/08/2024 20:05

Acadia in Maine
Boulder, Colorado

Massachusetts. Boston is beautiful with lots of history. Cape Cod is lovely. I was there in October and would love to go back.

Virginia in the autumn. So much to see and perfect to combine with DC.

isitfridaay · 03/08/2024 20:11

Were you solo in NYC and did you feel safe?

Alaska is amazing. And super safe (well compared to SF)

I'd love to do Moose Alley on the east coast

But I think my heart is in the PNW so Portland and Seattle

SF is fine but some places felt sketchy after dusk. One place felt scary!

BeautyPageantDropout · 03/08/2024 20:12

I was going to say Maine too. all those pretty coastal towns.

BeautyPageantDropout · 03/08/2024 20:13

Or Salem , Mass in October for the proper Halloween experience.

I was solo in NYC and overall I felt safe but not on the subway, especially from JFK to Manhattan.

I really would love to go to the West Coast but I presume I'd need a car and I really don't want to drive in USA.

Where in Oregon please? If money and travelling options were unlimited (not having to drive or being able to afford a chauffeur) Oregon is my number one dream. I would love to see Orcas 👀

Massachusetts in October. You can travel from there up to the Mountains in New Hampshire. I live in NH and love it here especially in the Autumn. Plus you can go to Salem, Mass for all the Halloween festivities in Oct

Just what we did. Started off in Boston then travelled up to North Conway seeing all the autumn foliage then back down to the sunshine in Cape Cod. Went to the top of Mount Washington and it was soooo cold. 🥶
