Worried my new job has no salary progression

I started a new job earlier this year, and I'm worried that there won't be much career progression in it. I really enjoy the job and think I will stay in it for years as it is a perfect fit for me. My only concern is that my salary is pretty low and I can't see how it will ever increase in this role.

It is an in-house role, where I have a pretty defined set of responsibilities that I can't see ever evolving. It is just me and my manager with this role, so it is not a big team where I could progress to becoming a line manager as there is no one needing line management. Other members of the team have pretty defined career paths with promotions each 1-2 years. My job is unique to my company, so I can't look elsewhere to see what progression looks like in other companies or see what salaries look like elsewhere as there is nothing to compare it to.

My line manager is going on maternity leave soon, and I will be picking up some of their tasks - things like resourcing and planning and attending meetings with senior management. Do you think that could warrant a temporary pay rise as these tasks are not in my job description?
