Hello has anyone got any experience / advice for me so I don't get this wrong please !

DD wants to start selling jewellery she is making via Etsy for fun in the school holidays .

I am quite pleased she js enthusiastic about a hobby / interest and so am happy to support her but no idea of any T&Cs or risks of her using this platform to sell.
She is also looking at craft fairs etc but can see that there are already similar sellers on Etsy so wondering how viable it is!
Any advice greatly appreciated

Is she any good? Or do you think her jewellery is good because you are her parent ( two very different things!)
Her work will have to be really well made.
Lots of jewelry on Etsy is now drop ship tat from china
There's lots to consider here, time to make an item, quality of materials used, quality of the finished product.
Will she post UK only? Overseas?
Etsy isn't a small and independent as is used to be. Which is a shame

Hi @Wahine24 thanks for the reply - no I don't think she is selling anything especially good- it's just colourful beads with charms the kind of thing her friends would wear - so only really aimed at a very young crowd.
She is enjoying the process of setting up a business and making the stock and I don't think for a minute she thinks it will be lucrative.
I suppose I just wondered if there was any downside to us letting her have a go but I can't really think of anything much to worry about !
Worst case she sells nothing at all - it's not much sunk cost and I guess she learns from it .

Remember that etsy charge fees and you have to be 18 to have a shop. You are also supposed to be 18 to sell on Facebook/Marketplace so you might need to add listings on her behalf.

@holidayfever2024 then probably not, could she do a sale at school/guides/church/youth club? (Outside your house?)
As @SleepingisanArt she's going to need your help for listings etc
So she needs to factor in costs of beads, time to make, finish if the item, time taken listing photos etc.
Would she be upset if no sales? It sounds a lot of faffing for little reward
