The Handmaid's Tale: Banned in Spain?

Someone told me the Handmaid's Tale is banned in Spain. When I google I can find a small number of second-hand references to the ban, but so far nothing I would regard as reliable confirmation. No dates for the ban are mentioned, so I don't know if its current, and they don't say whether just selling the book is banned, or whether taking it on holiday there and reading it would be an issue (surely not??).

Can anyone shed any light?

hahahaha no.

i live in Spain, it’s a popular series among my friends, I taught the book to my sixth form class last year and thoroughly enjoyed the sequel.

Why on earth would it be?!

El Cuento de La Criada - you can find it on Amazon Prime Spain, HBO max and the book on Amazon.es, Fnac…

Strangely, Penguin Random House attribute this quote to Margaret Attwood herself, but the book wasn't even published until 10 years after Franco died and 15 years after Salazar died: 🤔

Perhaps it was an April Fool that they forgot to take offline.
