"Big Girl Music" for 5yo

LuckyMum1989 · 01/08/2024 10:59

The other day, I was getting ready for a birthday party with my DD (5).
I popped on Diana Ross "I'm Coming Out" while we got dressed into our party frocks. DD thought this was BRILLIANT and asked for another big girl song. So I put on Man, I Feel Like A Woman by Shania Twain.
Since then, she has started asking for "Special Big Girl" music whenever we're in the car without DH and DS (3 months).
I picked a couple of cds but she said "no! Big girl music that sounds like girls getting ready for a party" 🤣 so I'm thinking of putting a mix CD together. Any song suggestions? I wouldn't want any bad language or sexual innuendo etc.

Please make my daughter's summer driving "AMAZING" 🤣

PS she's still happy to listen to Disney and kids songs if DS is in the car which is good because my heart broke a little bit when she told me she was too big to listen to "Let It Go" by herself....😭😭

My little one loves this too. We listen to songs like:
Let’s get this party started- Pink
Can’t stop this feeling Justin Timberlake
Dance Monkey

Enjoy your girls party 🥳

My 10 year old son loves this kind of music. His favourites are can't stop this feeling by Justin Timberlake, YMCA, studio and call me maybe. My older 2 are now ashamed to be related to him and complain a lot when it's his turn to chose the car musicGrin They prefer green day, yes and rem.

Spice Up Your Life - Spice Girls
I'm Just a Girl - No Doubt
Can 't Fight the Moonlight - Leanne Rimes

Showing my age here for sure!

My niece is the same age and OBSESSED with Shut Up And Dance by Walk The Moon. First “proper” song she’s liked ie not from Disney.

Blame it on the boogie was big with mine, don't stop believing they loved.

Spotify have a family friendly hits mix I found once

I'm placemarking because I have a 6yo DD who still happily listens to nursery rhymes with her younger DB, and still enjoys Disney music, but is also obviously wanting to listen to 'grown up music'. And I find it hard sometimes to find child-friendly songs! She listens to a lot of Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and S Club 7 as some ideas for you too.

How about 'Firework' by Katy Perry, 'Walk Like An Egyptian' by The Bangles or pretty much anything by the Spice Girls?

SprinkleOfSunak · 01/08/2024 17:06

The Saturdays - All Fired Up.
Zara Larsson - On My Love.
Kylie - Pretty much any of her songs!

We love Kidz bop - they cover current songs but change the lyrics so they're appropriate for little ones

Girls just wanna have fun by Cindi Lauper was my DD favourite when she was little
