has anyone got a citizen card?

I don't have a driving licence, and hate stuffing my passport in my pocket for days on end when I go camping at festivals where I know I have to show ID. It looks like the answer to this problem is a "citizen card". Has anybody got any experience please? Is this a genuine form of ID accepted across the UK, as it claims to be?

Thank you

well, for better or for worse, I have ordered a citizen card. I just hope it means I can stop carrying my passport around at festivals

It is a 'PASS' card and should be accepted as such. I got one a few years ago when my passport had expired and I needed to get an internal UK flight at short notice. The airports were happy with it as ID.

Provisional driving licence can be used as ID.

Transpires i can't have a citizen card, they are exclusively for the convieniance of people with high end computers that can take the required quality photos of passport - and no, you can't take the phot on a different device and upload it

Yeah I had this issue. They make it a complete nightmare to get one so I gave up in.the end

I think they are technically accepted, but not necessarily in practice. The problem is that the staff member is considered personally responsible for any underage sales, and could be fined if they accept something they shouldn't. If they aren't familiar enough with the card to be confident yours isn't a fake, many won't take that risk.

For the cost of a provisional driving licence, your probably better just getting one to use as id.

In theory they are accepted everywhere but in practice nobody did. I include banks, post office and the local council in that, nevermind the pubs and clubs.

Try getting a provisional driving licence (if you medically qualify) as they will last ten years as ID, even when they expire as a provisional driving licence (2 years?).

They are supposed to be accepted everywhere but they aren’t. My daughter had lots of trouble using hers so got a provisional license in the end to use as ID.

Then get one! You don’t have to learn to drive, you can just carry the document.

Not everyone can get one. I can't.

I did have a citizen's card. But found that so many places didn't accept it as ID.
