Looking for advice We are thinking of moving to the Huddersfield area. My son daughter in law and grandson live in Lindley and we are wondering what areas of Huddersfield would be good for downsizers like us moving there from 2 hours away.

How close would you like to be ideally? There are lots of lovely areas in Huddersfield. Are there any specific things you’d like nearby?

Lindley is nice. I would also look at Holmfirth, Honley, Slaithwaite, Linthwaite, Marsden, Denby Dale, Shepley and Shelley. They are all lovely villages.

Holmfirth is nice and not far from Huddersfield villagy feel its where last of the summer wine was filmed and surrounded by amazing scenery so best of town and country

I live in one of those areas, and couldn't agree more. Accidentally moved here 25 years ago! Couldn't imagine living anywhere else. It's just worth mentioning that the main road from the HD8 villages (Denby Dale, Shepley etc) villages into town can be very busy at rush hours, which might be worth bearing in mind if you'll be doing early morning childcare for your family (Lindley is on the other side of town).

Holmfirth, Marsden, Slaithwaite are lovely. Lindley, Edgerton and Marsh also nice. Huddersfield centre is not so great in itself but there are some nice areas and beautiful scenery. It is well located to get to Manchester and Leeds.
