If you could emigrate, where would you go?

Just curious if you could, or if you have, where would/did you go?

I feel like the UK is becoming so unsafe and I wonder if it's a 'grass is greener' but I'd love to move abroad. Just no idea where.

You don’t need to apologise! People are allowed their opinion of a place - it’s just funny to me when people say that Australia (the whole place?) is racist and sexist based on a couple of holidays and that they can’t find the culture in a place where it’s brimming with it.
But I like some places more than others too and I’m sure if I only visited a couple of places in the U.K. I’d have a different opinion and knowledge than people who actually live there.

@Ozgirl75 He's extremely well travelled, and certainly doesn't 'do nothing' when he goes anywhere. He's just spent time hiking and cycling in Patagonia, and then travelled to Argentina. He's lived in South America, and travelled extensively in Europe and Asia - less so in Africa. He's also had several stints in Oz. He enjoyed his time in Sydney, but found Perth fairly parochial, and said that compared to European culture, Australian culture/museums are 'samey'. He's a big classical music fan and sings in choral music choirs/plays instruments and said the opportunities were limited...I haven't been so I can't comment further on what led him to say that, only what he's said based on his experiences...sorry!

That’s probably why I like it. I am more of an outdoors person and other than midnight mass at St George’s on Christmas Eve I can’t really be arsed with choirs and orchestras.

I promise we have choirs and orchestras too 😌

Canada. My Dh could transfer with his job, as could I, plus I’m bilingual in French. I remember being told it’s like the UK 50 years ago and I think I’d like that. Also, proper seasons and spectacular scenery. It’s a crazy fantasy, we’ll never do it, but I’d love a log cabin in the woods, wouldn’t like the bears so much!

Cherry soup, come to Quebec, they'll welcome you with open arms!

I'm very envious you live in Quebec. Absolutely loved it when we visited.

I lived in Oz for a decade. Great but far. Very much a “bro” culture but I didn’t experience this racism everybody speaks about. Have also lived in Canada and France. Canada was not “me” but France I felt completely at home.

TBH though I need to live near family so UK is it for me - unless I decide to return to Oz and cannot see that happening.

The Mediterranean. I miss the warmth of the people... Outdoorsy lifestyle... The weather... I love how family orientated society is- it's so normal to see babies and children in restaurants etc.
