Relentless Spam from "McAfee"...

xsquared · 30/07/2024 19:20

I have had no fewer than 20 emails from them today alone, and they keep coming every 10 minutes or so.

I have a yahoo account, and on the app I just mark as spam and it gets moved there. However, that doesn't seem to direct further emails as they turn up in the main inbox sent from another address.

Not sure what else to do, as I thought just blocking this way would work but not if it keeps being sent from a other address!

Any ideas? Thank you.

This exact thing has been happening to me the last couple of days too. Not sure why. I block and move to junk if not already in there, but they are coming in thick & fast. I wondered if I’d been on a specific website & it had triggered it…

xsquared · 30/07/2024 19:50

I wonder that too, whether there is something I've recently given permission to but shouldn't have done. It's just very annoying.

Me too...not sure how to get rid of it.

GoTigers · 30/07/2024 19:51

Same here. Bloody annoying. Yahoo Mail account too.

Thatsfrenchforstopahorse · 30/07/2024 19:51

There was a post on here advertising it too that I reported yesterday.

ArtFartGunkel · 30/07/2024 19:52

Me too! Yahoo Mail. Really starting to piss me off now.

ThirdStorm · 30/07/2024 19:52

Me too. Instead of marking as spam I got the option to “unsubscribe” so I’ve tried that.

xsquared · 30/07/2024 20:25

I've already tried unsubscribing too, but it hasn't stopped. 🙁

And me. Yahoo as well

Mummyofthewildones · 30/07/2024 20:34

Yes same here! So bloody annoying!

bigchanges1 · 30/07/2024 21:05

A bit relieved that it seems to be yahoo issue rather than something I’ve done. Just hope they get it sorted soon as a tad frustrating.

IKnowAristotle · 30/07/2024 21:12

Yahoo email user too and same issue with macafee and other spam.

I recently filled in a survey for Evri and assumed it was that.

MrHarleyQuin · 30/07/2024 21:19

Yahoo Mail are absolutely the worst. Loads of spam, passwords compromised, feeling like you are breaking into fucking Fort Knox to read your own emails. Bin them and get gmail.

A27009D56 · 30/07/2024 21:24

Me too …..yahoo mail. It’s driving me up the wall!

JustAGalWhoLovesBooks · 30/07/2024 21:31

Same! Yahoo too...

Ilovemyshed · 30/07/2024 21:34

Set up a rule to take anything with the word McAfee into a folder.

PickAChew · 30/07/2024 21:37

Are they really from McAfee? In yahoo mail, if you open the mail and click the arrow next to "To: me" to expand it, you should see the actual email address it comes from. In this one in my spam box, McAfee isn't even spelt right!

Oh, and do not click unsubscribe for spam like this. It confirms that they have a live address.

VWT5 · 30/07/2024 21:41

ThirdStorm · 30/07/2024 19:52

Me too. Instead of marking as spam I got the option to “unsubscribe” so I’ve tried that.

Unfortunately, using the “unsubscribe” option makes things worse - it just tells them that your account is active - and they sell on your mail address to others (as I found to my cost)

rightoguvnor · 30/07/2024 22:03

I got a few into my spam folder. I deleted as I thought it must be a scam - it was warning me that the MacAfee subscription (that I don't have) had run out.

cakeorwine · 30/07/2024 22:15

Found my people.
Just started in the past few days with Yahoo.

TortillasAndSalsa · 30/07/2024 22:18

I'm on my 10th email today from said spam it's irritating but I just keep deleting them

ArtFartGunkel · 31/07/2024 17:31

Yahoo seem to have remembered how to block fake McAfee spam today ... but not Screwfix.

AlbertCamel · 31/07/2024 18:00

Yes, McAfee, Screw fix, Asda and some company who keep saying I've won a casserole dish!

Davros · 31/07/2024 18:02
