For me it's the ladies Gymnastics.
I was a Gymnast at school and in the Gymnastic team ( against other schools) this was over 50 years ago ( gosh that sounds bad) it definitely wasn't anything like today.
Just floor ( no high tumbles etc) and then the horse.. no summersaults.
My gosh the young ladies are amazing.

I can’t pick one really. Love it all. Love how you can start to watch something like shooting, then it’s 3 hours later, we’ve won a medal and you’re an arm chair expert. I really do enjoy it all. Loved watching the tennis yesterday and the swimming. I’ll enjoy athletics when that gets started too. The hockey is always good, rugby 7s really exciting, cycling too.

It’s a shame that in 3 weeks time it will all be forgotten and back to Bolton V Clacton in league 1 football rubbish.

I love that about the Olympics too! I remember watching the skateboarding in Tokyo and snorting contemptuously things like “well, she massively overcooked that edge flip off the rail after the half pipe, didn’t she?” having never watched it before in my life 😂

Chanel05 · 31/07/2024 07:58

Swimming, 10m diving and men's gymnastics.

SprinkleOfSunak · 31/07/2024 08:00

Diving.

Gymnastics! I've always loved watching Gymnasts, and dancers, even though I've never been able to do either Grin

DeathMetalMum · 31/07/2024 08:03

I love it all. I will watch any event, except for golf, and the marathon. I can also leave the 10k walk.

My absolute favorite is gymnastics, very closely followed by canoe slalom. But I also love diving, swimming, all athletics Triathlon, and all cycling events
road and track.

DeathMetalMum · 31/07/2024 08:07

Oh a third favourite is bmx cross.

Simonjt · 31/07/2024 08:17

Mens diving, gymnastics and beach volley ball. I’ve also quite enjoyed the womens cycling this year.

Polyp0 · 31/07/2024 08:24

Synchronised swimming

Aaron95 · 31/07/2024 08:24

Track cycling. It's that mixture of intense competition, tactics and real danger which makes it incredibly exciting to watch.

Plus some of the events are bonkers and we're presumably invented in a pub at closing time.

MonkeyTennis34 · 31/07/2024 08:32

It's the swimming for me.

I'm a terrible swimmer so it has nothing to do with my personal history.

I love the aesthetics of it.
The initial dive in, the underwater shots, the movement of the water, how close the races can be...all of it!!

TheCourtierTapsHisFan · 31/07/2024 08:35

I do love a spot of weightlifting.

Penguinsa · 31/07/2024 08:44

Womens gymnastics is my favourite and so beautiful to watch. Lovely to see Simone Biles back and perfect as ever. Also especially loved watching Ruby Evans and Sabrina, the Romanian gymnast.

After that maybe swimming, loved seeing Leo Marchand win. And of course diving, especially Tom Daley.

mondaytosunday · 31/07/2024 08:54

Gymnastics, and it's interesting to see how old the women are these days, and how much heavier they are than the Olga Korbut era, when I started watching. Average age between 1976-2000 was 17ish, now it's 22.
I'm not interested in track and field or team sports (I'm not sure why they are Olympic sports as I feel it's more about individual achievement). I do like the equestrian events though. Swimming was all the rage when I was growing up.
The skateboarding this year looked unimpressive- I'm sure I've seen much better 'tricks' on YouTube, but I do not know enough about the sport I guess.
First time I saw Curling I thought it was a game the hockey players did on their off time! Cannot take it seriously.

ghostbusters · 31/07/2024 08:58

I can't choose just 1!

I'm watching the closing few minutes of the women's triathlon (tuned in from the start) and it's been so exciting! The transition stages are great, the swim was tough, athletes sliding off their bikes on the cobbles. Great Team GB athletes competing. I watch it year round though.

Also love all swimming, diving, athletics (track rather than field), a bit of canoeing.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 31/07/2024 08:58

I love watching most of it. I will give golf a miss but other than that I will watch and enjoy all the sport.

I have loved watching the gymnastics and diving so far but have watched hours of all sports so far.

I love the Olympics!

EtonMessy · 31/07/2024 09:06

My favourite is the Paralympics !! Starts on the 28th August !!

Turophilic · 31/07/2024 09:07

I much prefer Winter Olympics (especially hockey) but I do look up a bit of gymnastics. It’s incredible, almost superhuman, what those athletes can do.

Too much of the Summer Olympics remind me of PE.

Murderball!

Oblomov24 · 31/07/2024 09:22

Swimming and Gymnastics are my faves.

BestIsWest · 31/07/2024 09:23

I love it all. Just watched the women’s triathlon and currently watching the rowing.

Athletics are my favourite followed by the gymnastics and swimming but I love to see the more niche sports too - speed climbing was amazing in Tokyo but haven’t seen any yet.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 31/07/2024 07:37

Triathlon. Women's happening now, men's to follow. The cobbles are proving very problematic for the bike ride!

I'm watching it too.

These athletes are machines 🤩

GoBackToTheStart · 31/07/2024 09:29

Like so many others, gymnastics because it's fascinating to watch.

Also, weightlifting. So few people seem to understand just how technical it is. It isn't just about lifting the heavy thing - the amount of technical skill that is required for doing heavy snatch and clean and jerk is mind boggling, and then you add the phenomenal amount of strength required too, and there are so many rules about what is a good lift vs a bad lift...love to watch it.

neerg · 31/07/2024 09:31

My favourite seems to be any sport that we are about to win a medal in🥉🥈🏅

itsgettingweird · 31/07/2024 09:31

Also loving the tennis, canoe, diving and even managed to watch the trap shooting yesterday without finding it boring 😂

English nationals swimming are also on so I have iPad and tv showing both!

Ds competed at Aquatics GB champs last week so I got the live experience! It's nail biting!

JaneIves · 31/07/2024 09:32

Trampolining. Never gets enough coverage.
Quite enjoyed the surfing the other day, looked a stunning setting.
