I'm in a really stressful situation at the moment and I just can't eat. It's starting to make me feel v ill.

Please help, are there any foods/shakes that can help fill me up and keep me going?

I feel you.

My appetite is the first thing to go when I’m stressed.

Protein shakes are good, smoothies made with fruit and full fat milk or Ice Cream too.

Could you manage some soup?

Allthehorsesintheworld · 30/07/2024 14:35

Make a smoothie with any sort of milk, a couple of a bananas, a bit of powdered chocolate and strawberries if you have them.

I know this feeling well and I hate it. I find calorie dense drinks and soups helpful. Fruit juice and milk shakes, for example. You can buy ready mixed Ensure/Complan/BuildUp type meal replacements.

I hope your stress eases soon.

A banana - you can nibble at it. Also good are rich tea biscuit, dunked and nibbled. My stress gets much worse if lacking in carbs.

I had a stressful situation earlier in the year & I lived on cuppa soups, crisps & sandwiches. Could you manage a cream cracker with a bit of peanut butter?

purplecorkheart · 30/07/2024 14:45

Soup is normally my go to when I am stressed. I normally make something like a plain chicken sandwich with it, remove the crust and cut the sandwich into tiny pieces. It seems easier to make myself eat when the pieces are small.

Complan
McDonald's. It sounds daft but you get a lot of calories for each bite. Also most of their food has too much sodium and sugar which your body is probably craving right now.

I hope it passes quickly for you OP

Would you be able to manage a milkshake? I also lose my appetite when I'm stressed. I struggle with chewing anything, but I can usually drink a milkshake. I like to get a big one, like from five guys or something.

Thanks everyone. I hope so too! When I feel better I am definitely getting a McDonalds. In the meantime I'll try some of those ideas..

I'm exactly the same when I'm stressed
My go to is Greek yogurt and granola, ready salted crisps, plain biscuits
I seem to be able to eat small amounts of bland foods
