Any ideas on rash? Driving me mad!

For about 7 weeks I've had intensely itchy skin from below my belly button to bikini line, top and backs of thighs and behind my knees. It particularly flares up in the morning but I'm aware of it all day, it can sometimes look like a stinging nettle rash and other times the itch is there with nothing being visible on the skin. I've bruised myself from itching so much.... I've been to the doctors three times, been prescribed steroids, anti histamines, steroid creams and anti fungal creams and nothing has worked. It's driving me mad! No new washing powders, or clothing, or change in diet. Any words of wisdom or suggestions would be greatly received! The rash doesn't spread to around my back from the front which is strange. Some pics added, hopefully they don't offend anyone!

Do you have any other symptoms: sore throat, high temp, body aches?

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 29/07/2024 08:19

No, I don't... I forgot to mention, I even had a blood test to check liver and something else that can be linked to itching but nothing showing 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ahh, ok. I was thinking it could have been the rash associated with scarlet fever.

what about shingles? Has that been considered?

Looks like uriticaria...

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 29/07/2024 08:51

No one has mentioned shingles and I thought that was more of a scabby rash?

I've just googled urticaria, treatment sounds like what I've already had but not worked!

That's not shingles. Shingles very rarely crosses the centre of the body and the rash is usually more linear.

spikeandbuffy · 29/07/2024 09:45

Urticaria can be tricky - I've had it 28 years and antihistamines do nothing for me
Which have you tried?

Sparrowball · 29/07/2024 09:51

It does look like urticaria.

You might have developed a spontaneous allergy, could you ask to be referred for an allergy test?

NotmyfirstRodeomyfriend · 29/07/2024 10:29

Wow, 28 years! I don't know the names of the antihistamines I've tried, and finished them now. One was a low dose and then I went on a very high dose... did nothing. An allergy test could be a good idea, I'll ask for that.

Allergy? I had similar to certain bandages after my c section.

spikeandbuffy · 29/07/2024 10:52

Yeah they might look at referring to dermatology. I'm allergic to heart rate increase and heat so it can be very.. non specific!

Sparrowball · 29/07/2024 12:37

Strawberries are a common one at this time of year as is miliaria/prickly heat.
