Taking kids abroad without OH

I'm booked to go on hols in a few weeks with two dc without OH as he's at work all summer. Someone has told me I'll need to take birth certificates for the kids. Does anyone know if this is true. They have the same surname as me and we are just booked for a week in Greece.
Thanks

You might get asked where their father is or about your holiday plans but it's extremely unlikely. I travelled abroad regularly with the children without my husband before I changed my surname to his (and theirs) and would nearly always get quizzed on who they were, they even quizzed my 3/4 year old son once who I was to him. So I used to take my marriage certificate which helped but they still used to give me dodgy looks!

I travelled to Spain and crossed the border to Gibraltar with my twins without my other half. They don’t have my surname. I was only questioned at the Gibraltar border where they asked if they had dads surname, I said yes and I had photos of their birth certificates on my phone just in case but they didn’t want to see them and just wished us a happy holiday! If you have the same name I wouldn’t even expect them to say anything but maybe have photos of their certificates just to be sure x

Thanks all. Photos are a good plan.

Have a signed letter by him and crucially a phone number they can reach him on if they want corroboration. If the kids are older they will be less likely to ask anyway, plus Greece isn't a suspicious destination for child abduction assuming you aren't Greek

I always take a signed letter from dh, you can find templates on the internet. I take photocopy of marriage cert and his passport. I have also considered videoing him on my phone giving permission. How old are your kids?
