Breakfast, lunch, dinner. Unless the lunchtime one is cooked and then it's Breakfast, lunch, tea.

Breakfast, lunch and tea

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Born in the south to northern parents who moved back in my teens so very used to Tea being used instead of Dinner.

RobertSalamander · 28/07/2024 20:09

Lunch & tea are cold and dinner is hot so
it depends. But then a roast is a ‘Sunday lunch’ so that goes against my rule.

bakewellbride · 28/07/2024 20:19

I'm the same as you op. I'm not from the north but dh is and his way kind of stuck

Breakfast, lunch and tea

Born midlands, childhood in the north. Lived in the south since mid teens

ATribeCalledQuestion · 28/07/2024 20:23

Breakfast and lunch always the same. There are rules round the evening meal.

Generally, evening meal is dinner. Unless we are having Sunday tea, chippy tea, higgeldy tea (random bits and pieces!) or cold tea (e.g. sandwiches and crisps)

Afternoon tea is instead of lunch, but usually means we don't need dinner.

henlake7 · 28/07/2024 20:29

Breakfast, lunch, tea.
Dinner is for posh meals like Christmas or going out.

SE and always have been, working class background though if that makes a difference.

LimoncelloSpritz · 28/07/2024 20:29

Tea and dinner are equivalent almost. Supper to me is ovaltine and a snack before bed and not something I ever had as an adult but for posh London types I imagine it's linguine and shit with wine. 😂

Breakfast, lunch, tea. Northerner.
