You are enough - do you agree with this message?

Beyond vulnerable demographic of young people who may be easily influenced by media….

My general observation is that fully formed adult either accept themselves as they are (steady burners, same job for many years, same types of holidays, very routine lives, reliable) or like the song from the Greatest Showman “Never Be Enough” (enjoy professional and personal growth, drive change, keep up with cultural currents).

DP (enough) and I (never enough) are very clearly at in our ways and use these differences to positively influence each others lives. Yet, the message irritates me and for him it’s pointless. So, why do we keep hearing in media, who is it for?

People other than you and your husband?! Just because a message doesn't resonate with you it doesn't mean it has no merit.

There are plenty of people like your husband who struggle to accept that they are happier and more fulfilled just doing enough and feel like they should be pushing themselves to do more.

I don’t think you understand the phrase properly. It just means You don’t have to strive to be more accepted, liked, valued etc or change yourself in order to try to be “perfect”, you’re fine as you are.

I always wonder "enough for what/whom?"
