So Zillow have put up more pics from inside their house for sale. I think it’s been decorated beautifully and even though it’s ginormous, feels very homely.

Don’t think they’ll get 68 for it though

I like it, was expecting all shiny and it’s friendlier than that.

RubieChewsDay · 27/07/2024 21:03

@MouseofCommons thanks for posting that is a fascinating read.

As for the house, I like it a lot more than I thought I would, agree with previous poster that the listing is let down by the lack of floor plan, I need to see where all of those bathroom are.

LaughingElderberry · 27/07/2024 21:10

I don't like it. The entrance feels like a hotel rather than a home - it feels really impersonal which I think is because it's so vast. There aren't any particular design features that stand out - it just feels boxy. Also boggling at 24 bathrooms - why?!? If you allow one for each bedroom, a guest bathroom, one off the kitchen, and one near the gym/hair salon/whatever, that's still only 15!

viques · 27/07/2024 21:10

You can request a tour. Anyone free tomorrow?

I am feeling a bit faint at the thought of all those toilets to clean.

elaineyadayada · 27/07/2024 21:14

So many seating areas, so little time.
my kingdom for a happy marriage.

elaineyadayada · 27/07/2024 21:15

Some of those homes on Zillow - Nero’s pad if he had reincarnated as a Thunderbird.

Rummly · 27/07/2024 21:16

I asked for opinions from two local estate agents. They both said:

“It’s done to a high quality finish. Because it’s near the station I think it would suit a young professional, commuting couple. At sale I would expect this property to fetch between 20 and 100 million dollars. As a rental property I would expect it to achieve about $500,000 per month.

RobertSalamander · 27/07/2024 21:17

Absolutely love it! Why are they moving if they just finished renovating 4 months ago - not like they need to flip houses to make money. Didn’t they just get married?? Not judging, just nosey 😄

And I never understand why American homes like this tend to have double the amount of bathrooms as bedrooms.

woofyoof · 27/07/2024 21:19

All i can think of is... the cleaning!! 😭 even a roomba would explode after a week of that

OK, Dh is a quasi-expert on Persian carpets- don't ask; he has his own collection- and he says the carpets are fake and not hand-woven. The tell tale sign is how they have crumpled because they are so thin. This reduced my FOMO!

I expect all of their stuff has been taken away and the whole house has been restaged with rented furniture. They wouldn’t want the general public seeing their stuff.

Edited

According to the gossip magazines, they’ve barely spent any time together all summer and a divorce is pending. Also according to the gossip columns, they are still blissfully happy but they bought a big house so they could run their careers out of it and have now decided they don’t want to live at the office.

Either one may be correct or there may be a yet undisclosed actual reason. Either way, they are happy for the public to know the house is up for sale which is some form of public statement, I’m just not sure what.

Moira’s wig room?! 😂

Thatsfrenchforstopahorse · 27/07/2024 21:25

I bet they don’t struggle to get their daily steps in.

Sosorryliver · 27/07/2024 21:25

I quite like it. It does feel a bit like it's been house doctored ( remember that show) flowers on the table, books , candles, throws. Take your eye on a journey round the room. I wonder how many full time staff it takes to clean it though. I reckon a minimum of 2 plus a poolboy!

corrine3278 · 27/07/2024 21:30

Wow lots of chairs. Why is he so grumpy with so many chairs to choose from

Do celebrities get a mortgage for their homes or would they just buy something like this outright?

It depends. If the interest on the mortgage is less than the interest on savings, they will take a mortgage, as it’s prudent, as the interest in their savings will contribute to paying it off. A financial advisor will decide for them, someone who manages their money,

I don't love it. I don't hate it but it felt like in each room there was something just on the edge of wrong/jarring.

Too many seating arrangements.
Too cluttery.
I like a plant/ flowers, but the ones here seem to just add "noise" to the eye rather than pleasure
Weird mix of styles and furniture. Mid century, modern, sleek and antique fighting each other.

It is almost like they didn't want to celebrate and accentuate the joy of space...and filled it up with "stuff" instead.
Or could agree who interior design taste "won" so jumbled them together in disharmony.

Coughsweet · 27/07/2024 21:54

I assume they want massive pads because when out and about they need bodyguards the whole time so it’s only when had home they can wander about quite happy and therefore want a lot of space there.

As for the number of loos, maybe they poo a lot?

Choochoo21 · 27/07/2024 22:19

It’s stunning but for that money I would have thought you could buy your own island.

I’m sure the area is a lot to do with it but I’ve seen similar celeb homes for less that half of that.

Twitchingthenightaway · 27/07/2024 22:55

I much prefer a cosy characterful celebrity home, love George Michael’s cottage

It’s ok. But for the money…nah. Doesn’t do it for me. Seems too cavernous, and would never feel like home.

FlyingUnderTheRadar · 27/07/2024 23:16

It’s just too big. Having duplicate rooms (bar say 3-4 bedrooms) makes me itch. I just hate the idea of even two sitting rooms. Why have more than you can sit in at any one time?! Surely you’d end up preferring one and ignoring the others and then they’re just dead space?! Won’t the spare ones feel sad and left out? What’s the point?!! For the love of God Bennifer, ANSWER ME!!

Give me Bag End in Hobbiton any day of the week over that impersonal temple of stuff.
And actually George Michael’s house above is divine also. He was so great 🥲

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 27/07/2024 23:22

How many sofas and chairs can you need?! So many of the rooms are serving the same purpose, even the more casual dining room has two different areas both with dining tables and chairs, it's weird. Also 24 bathrooms!! There is definitely such a thing as too big. Also that kitchen looks like an artist's impression of a yet to be built kitchen.

I watch million dollar listing LA and also watched buying London, the latter was an inferior show but I preferred the style of the properties.
