Somewhere to go on the way from North East to London

Does anyone have suggestions of somewhere to visit for a few hours hen driving between the North East and London? Two adults and a teenager.

Stamford is just off the A1, old historic town with nice shops and eateries.

We often go to Bolsover Castle on the way south.

Yep, depending on exactly where you start & stop - Belton or Yorkshire sculpture park are both good for a leg stretch.
A1 or M1 routing also affects things.
