Cyprus in January

We're considering going to Paphos for New Year. Has anyone been around this time of year? I'm just wondering what the weather/temperature is like, generally. I've checked Google for averages but it's never very accurate from experience.

Antalya in Turkey is the other option.

I haven’t been to Cyprus in January but I have been the week leading up to Christmas (in Paphos actually) - and it was bloody cold especially at night. Definitely not sun bathing weather if that is what you are looking for.

Thank you! Not looking to sunbathe but I am hoping to be able to comfortably sit outside to eat, have a coffee, etc.

It's cold as soon as the sun drops. Around 18-22 degrees during the day but can be cooler. Paphos is a resort so not much will be open.

When we lived there, one year it seemed to rain the whole of January.

Its jumper and jeans weather rather than thick coat weather, but its a definite winter.

Thanks guys, think I'll give Paphos a miss (in January at least)!

I was there for Christmas/New Year.

When the sun was out it was like a good day here in summer.

We ate breakfast out on the patio each day and one of our party sunbathed on several days.

The beaches were beautiful and not busy.

Some of our party swam in the sea- which was still warmer than on English south coast.

We had some stormy days and light rain on a few days.

It gets dark early.

It was lovely though.
