Which working pattern would you use?

I'm about to start a midwifery job, doing 30 hours per week.

For context, I hate going to work in the morning and would like it to be as palatable as possible (but that's another story). I have a 5 year old DC, for whom I am the main carer.

Shifts are 12.5 hours.

I can either do 3 shifts one week and then 2 the next.

Or, two long shifts and one short 7 hour shift each week.

Which would you choose?

3 and 2 every time.

You'll hate going in 3 times every week when you don't need to. Once you're in the swing of a shift, it'll fly by.

3 and 2.

Having one extra day a week 'free' is much better.

Thank you!

Also I meant "choose" not "use" in ten title.

Would it be easier for childcare to have the same 3 days a week?

BuddhaAtSea · 27/07/2024 11:26

3 and 2. Are you talking day or night shifts?

Olika · 27/07/2024 11:32

3 and 2. Would hate going to work for a short day.
