Following from my other thread . About no contact with mother, dementia care home.

I'm going to go and see her tomorrow. I feel like I have done it to soon . Teen dd has to come with me . I don't know what sort of reception I will get . I don't know how I will feel mentally and emotionally.

I have paid for hotel and train fare etc now . So can't change My mind

Do you mean you've helped her move to the home too soon? If so please don't - I honestly think this is a very common misconception. My mum (dementia) moved in a few years ago now and has been so much more content and settled and happier- the environment is DESIGNED for people with that disease, the amount of interactions from (hopefully) friendly kind staff is way better than you could get at home, the set routine has been great for my mum. They also sorted her medication.

One advice is to not visit too soon though or they don't integrate with the activities rather wait in own room for their visitors to arrive.... which can be v detrimental. I know someone this happened to. We waited 10 days or maybe it was 14 before we visited.

Good luck, it may not be as bad as you think/ longer term you'll see it was the right thing/time.
