Absolute Radio cash register competition

I've switched from Radio 2 to Absolute Radio this week as I can't stand Gaby Roslin, Gary Davies or Jeremy Vine 😬.

Anyway, I succumbed and entered the cash register competition to win £250,000. Now I've heard it wasn't won and there's a rollover to £260,000.

How come it wasn't won and I am I automatically entered for the rollover. Does anyone know?

Yep you have to answer within 5 rings and say 'Make me a winner.' If you say hello they hang up on you. If you don't answer your phone you've lost it.
If this is the case they call it a 'roll over' and go again the next day. By roll over they mean that if you entered for that day, then your entry will roll over to the next day. When someone wins, which can take a few days all entries are then dead and you have to enter again next time.

Nowhere at all in the countless promotions did I hear that you had to say "Make me a winner" if you picked up the call! Is this actually true?

All I heard is that you had to say the value of the prize - £250,000.

Feels a bit scammy?

I don’t know how you don’t know the rules of the game, I honestly feel like they say it 100 times a day 😂

Jibberty · 26/07/2024 20:14

It's not a scam. But this is the cash register competition. You need to answer within 5 rings and they'll ask you what the week's prize is (next week it's £260,000.

No, that's their "make me a winner" competition

For cash register you need to tell them the cash register amount.

So presumably today the number they called didn't pick up within 5 rings? Is that why they rolled over?

hi yes its a rollover and if you entered the first round you are still in. You can answer Hello and will be asked the amount, this is not make me a winner so you dont have to say that.

2 separate competitions.
For cash register its answer within 5 rings and know the amount on offer. No idea if your entry is carried over though.

@lightsandtunnels Nooo, that's the Make Me A Winner competition! With the Cash Register comp, you can answer "Hello", but at some stage the presenter will ask you for the Cash Register amount. At that point, you have to give them the correct amount, which this week is £260,000. Then you win!

Tzimi · 07/10/2024 21:15

At the moment, they're runnung a couple of weekly Bonus competitions, which are neither Cash Register nor Make Me A Winner. You just have to answer the phone within 30 seconds if they call you, and the prize is yours. The current prize is £275,000, and the phonecall will be after 5pm on Friday 11th October. You can enter 100 times by calling one or more of the competition numbers. Good luck!
