Can my 5 year old sit in the front?

hi, I’m just wondering if my 5 year old can sit in the front of my car if I turn air bags off? And he will be in his car seat. It is a one off occasion. I was just wondering if it was legal?

It’s legal but I would only do it as a last resort personally.

Is it because you have other kids in the back? If so a younger child in a rear facing seat in the front (weith airbag off), and 5yo in the back would be safer.

It’s because I’m moving house and I got expensive household things in my car which needed the back seats down which I tried to avoid but wouldn’t of got in with his seat being up so I’ve put his car seat in the front and air bags off he is really good in the car aswell so he wouldn’t be touching anything he shouldn’t.

Yes it’s legal. Seat as far back as it goes. If it’s rear facing airbag must be off. If the seat is forward facing check your car’s manual, mine actually says I can leave it on.

It’ll be online if you can’t find it! I do it quite a lot when I have extra kids in tow as it’s the best way to fit everyone in- DD is 7 now but have been doing it since she was about 5. Reinforce the no touching anything before you set off would be my advice!

Good idea I have a look now, and yes I definitely will he is pretty good but it be his first time in the front.
