Post school pre dinner snack?

DS starts primary school soon. 2 of the days he has already signed up for after school sports, which are about 40mins after the school day ends. So it will be too early to give him dinner, but as its sport he will need some sort of substantial snack before going. Im having a complete blank, can anyone recommend anything?

banana, Apple; any other fruit. Raw veg like carrot, pepper, cucumber with a dip. Cheese cubes/cheese and crackers. A small sandwich? Mine like omelette muffins you can just put any veg in

A small sandwich, or some fruit bread, or handful of nuts and dried fruit. If he's like my DD he won't want a substantial snack and then to do sport full. DD always feels sick if she eats too much beforehand. Plan for a hungry, tired child on the way home though!

Cheese & biscuits, toast & peanut butter, toasted tea cake, bowl of cereal, home made flapjack, houmos and breadsticks?

Quesadillas, cheese on toast, sausage roll, wholemeal pitta with hummus. Banana and peanut butter smoothie.

Raw carrot/peppers/ apple / greek yoghurt and fruit

As long as you cut it up/prepare it - it'll get hoovered I've found - otherwise they just gaze at the fridge contents complaining there's "nothing to eat!"

Slightly random but when I'm playing netball after work I have porridge! Either with berries or a banana
Sometimes I swap it for marmite rice cakes with egg mayo on

Runaway1 · 26/07/2024 22:20

Eggy bread
