Hi there. we are off on a pool holiday on monday and looking fr any advice or tips on DDs hair. her hair is long - mid thigh length.

i normally keep her hair in a plait or 2 plaits with lots of leave in conditionner when we are away but it is a nightmare to brush out - sometimes well over an hour.

what do others use or do to avoid a post pool matted mess?

thanks!

Well, I'm sure you won't be surprised to be asked why you keep her hair so long if t takes over an hour to brush? Sounds miserable for everyone. Is her hair generally dry or in poor condition?

My daughter has long hair and before holidays I take her for a trim to make sure ends are healthy and not dry/straggly and usually cut a fair chunk off, at least 2 inches. Then usually hair in a plat or pony tail for the pool/sea but sometimes she prefers it loose. Wash with conditioner before dinner, maybe some leave in conditioner. Use a tangle teezer.

Hair oil before you plait and if possible a plait and bun with hair grip (or two) seems to work best for our DD who has very very thick and long hair.

Honestly I would cut her hair. Mid thigh length is just ridiculous and impractical and spending an hour brushing it is just bonkers.

Shorter more easily manageable hair would be the most logical solution.

I think if you and your daughter want it that long you are just going to have to put the work in unfortunately.
DDs was pretty long when she was around 8-10 and it was a lot of work, especially on holiday.
We used to plait it but then getting them out was awful, a bun seemed a bit better but still not easy

Mid thigh?? Wow that's certainly long, how old is she? I've got to say it sounds like hard work.

Mid thigh??? Haircut to waist length. Then as you do with the conditioner and plaits but it’ll be easy to brush out.

thanks all.

Her hair doesnt normally take an hour to brush - only after lots of time in and out of the pool.
She's 9 and get a trim every 4 months or so. her hair is in good condition and we take good care of it. No plans to cut it shorter just yet, she most definitely does not want to, loves her hair and is v happy with it.

I will look into hair oil and a bun option too.
thank you!
