Can anyone suggest some amazing BIG books for a 5yo?

I remember as a kid spending hours and hours staring in wonder at various encyclopaedias, dinosaur books, and other very big books. I'm a single mum and have made the mistake of letting my 5yo watch tv every morning whilst I get ready, which is causing meltdowns. I want to get him some books that he can get lost in and excited about. Not story books as he can only read small words, but info books with pictures and some accompanying text.

Can anyone recommend?

The Usborne information books with flaps are really good, lots of info and the flaps are small and fun https://usborne.com/gb/books/browse-by-category/lift-the-flap-books

Both excellent recommendations.

Maybe an atlas.

My nephew loved his Guinness Book of Records. Quite a bit of reading but a great book to share. If you’re looking for something to play with him, Top Trumps are great & children love sorting them.

You can get a lot of encyclopedia's of characters (Pokémon, DC Superheroes, Star Wars etc) if he has a particular favourite.

Spend time at your local library you'll find one that he likes. Charity shops are also good for big books. Or just go to a big bookshop with a large selection with him and browse.
