It's so hard to know who to pick to do my paving in the garden

I have a garden that needs paving slabs. Long story short, old owner is the bodge queen. So I removed her old paving slabs and now have to get someone to lay new ones. it's not a straight forward job, needs some more soil digging out (to make the area level and not breaching damp proof course) and a big concrete pad needs removing.

Had someone around, detail estimate, £6.5k taking two weeks

Another two guys £3.5k. (to be fair one was just by pics). One guy had a few bad reviews on Google but all positive on MyBuilder.

Am I over complicating my thinking?

What do I need to do or say?

Look on facebook for patios and drives landscaping group then do a search for any companies in your area. Then look at their work.

Is mybuilder like checkatrade? If so its a con and ALL reviews are positive so are worthless. Google is a better barometer for reviews.

Its an industry full of chancers, travellers etc. You want a good established local firm.

Oh that's a good idea
