Anyone had Yodel 'deliver' - not delivered?

So DP ordered something from Ebay, had a notification that Yodel had 'delivered' it on Tuesday into my porch at 11.31. I was in on Tues, and nothing came near the door in the morning - as evidenced by the Ring doorbell, too. Nada.

DP will be ringing Yodel today, but I think they will either send a photo of some other house (If they actually delivered anything, anywhere) - how do we find thus house? And what if the occupants of the house don't hand it over/deny all knowledge/not answer the door?

Or they will deny all knowledge, or photo, and maintain that it was delivered.

So who do we claim against? Ebay? Paypal? Yodel?

I know Yodel are crap, so lots of you must have had this happen. Sad

You claim against the seller of the item. It's their choice of courier and their responsibility to get the item you paid for to you safely. Your contract is with them. They have to either replace or refund. They then have to chase the courier for compensation or return of their item.

If they send you the photo, it might have the location data attached to it. As this would be a very obvious way of solving the vast majority of these sorts of problems, you'd hope that Yodel already know this and use it accordingly. But in any case, it's one avenue you can explore if getting Yodel on the phone is too painful.

People also ask on local Whatsapp groups if anyone has had a parcel turn up. Otherwise, DP needs to take it up through eBay, with the company/person the item was ordered from.

I've had this happen so many times
I then get a photo of a front door which i don't recognise
In my case I post the photo on our WhatsApp group( 35 communal flats so someone usually finds it for me)
Your contract is with the seller so contact them for help.

Thanks all - DP phoned Yodel, and spoke to a human! Who told him that the parcel had been delivered - to the Esso station! Why? No idea - it was not requested as a destination, Yodel told him it was 'in the Porch', Ebay have our address as delivery address...

No idea. weird.

We had one, apparently it was in our porch, we don't have a porch🤔

The person you have a claim against is the seller. If the item is lost on delivery they have a claim against the courier but that bit is not your problem. You have every right to a refund or replacement from the seller if an item goes missing. You don't have to wait for them to resolve their dispute with the courier.
