Since graduating university in 2022, I have immersed myself in the finance industry through various internships and roles. I interned at XXX Asset Management, where I presented a proposal on AI's workforce impact and persuaded the investment committee to include a housing company based on ESG criteria. At XXX Capital, I led a session on using generative AI like ChatGPT, improved ESG metrics collection with Microsoft Office tools, and conducted ad hoc tasks such as macroeconomic research to support investment decisions.
Currently, I am a restructuring and turnaround analyst for BIG 4 NORTH. In this role, I created AI bot chat prompts that saved significant time for a senior manager, taught myself PowerBI to create business dashboards, and trained peers on customer management software while effectively collecting debts. Despite these achievements, I realized after speaking to colleagues in the audit department at BIG 4 NORTH that auditing would better suit my career aspirations. Auditing offers exposure to a broader range of companies and allows me to fully utilize my analytical skillset. Additionally, the restructuring role at BIG 4 NORTH did not provide the level of engagement I had anticipated.
I am now applying for this particular audit role at SMALLER FIRM because I prefer the culture at a smaller firm, which offers more responsibility, faster growth, and more personalized development. While at BIG 4, I primarily worked with distressed companies in the North, auditing with SMALLER FIRM presents a greater variety of clients. Moreover, at a smaller firm like SMALLER FIRM , I can gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire audit process, aligning perfectly with my intellectual curiosity for accountancy and business.
