School fines

Hi, I took my child on holiday till the end of June. I am aware of the school fines and I was expecting to recieve one.
I recieved a letter from the school at the start of July saying they are proceeding to issue a referral of a penalty notice against me and I should wait for the penalty notice in due course from the council.
Does anyone know how long this can take? How long did it take for you to recieve the actual fine?.
I can't ask the school as its summer break.

I'm abit worried as iv heard stories that they just send it first class and it's not tracked and if you don't recieve it on your end and you don't pay then the fine can increase etc.

How long was your child out of school?

It’s true that if you don’t pay the fine, the amount increases, but I don’t think that it would be financially viable for the local authority to pay the cost of tracking for every fine letter they send.

Were you not able to enquire before the end of term?

Call the local education authority. They’re the ones who issue the fine.

It can take weeks and weeks. Especially at this time of year.
