Eustachian tube dysfunction

A few months ago I had ear pain, was given ear spray and antibiotics and it went away. However a few days later my ears felt blocked and like they had pressure. After a few weeks this went away but the pain came back.

I went to an ENT specialist who said I have Eustachian tube dysfunction and prescribed me nasal spray and the otovent balloon, and she recommended steam inhalation a few times a day. I’m just wondering if these things will actually work though seeing as the blocked feeling has gone now? Surely this will only work to pop my ears? The only problem I have now is pain and I’m worried that using the otovent balloon will either be pointless or harmful if my ears actually don’t need popping.

Has anyone had this? Will it go away on its own eventually? It’s been going on since may.
