Anyone else ill at the moment?

Felt like so many of my friends have been ill recently. I thought I was getting away with it… but nope, woke up yesterday with a sore throat and it hurts to swallow. It got better through the day but omg it’s bad now. Hence why I am on Mumsnet at 4am- it’s woken me up. I am feeling rough. I’ve just done a Covid test which is negative but also it expired in April 2024.

Have a very sore throat, slight headache, feel hot to touch, and body aches. Urghhh I thought I was avoiding this 😭

I feel exactly the same OP. Used one Covid test from ages ago and it was negative. Not sure if it was out of date. I feel crap. Not sure what it is. Taking the rest of the week off work to try and rest. Hope you feel better soon x.

I had this recently. Starts with a difficulty to swallow, which went quickly - also headache and extreme tiredness. Had to cut short normal activities as out of breath with pounding heartbeat. Luckily it has got better but it took a couple of weeks. Others round me also had the same and we thought we were in some sort of heart failure. Sounds extreme but that's how bad it was. Such relief to be well again now.
Did two covid tests and both were negative.

Same here OP, I’ve had a really high temperature for the last 3 days and an awful cough. Everything aches and I’m exhausted. Thinking probably COVID as feels similar to the last time I had it but only have out of date tests so haven’t taken one and in any case I’m staying away from people. My almost 2 year old DD also seems to have picked up the same virus, with high temperatures and a cough but otherwise she’s fine in herself and full of beans as normal but nursery sent her home yesterday which was really not fun when all I wanted to was curl up in bed! Thankfully DH WFH so is helping out.

Most antigen tests especially ones from ages ago won't pick up some of the new strains of COVID x
I'm in Ireland and like you, it's sweeping through everyone x

Dibblydoodahdah · 24/07/2024 06:26

Yes both DH and I are really ill. Both tested positive for COVID. His symptoms started on Friday, mine on Sunday. My temp is currently 39 and won’t come down. An utter nightmare as I am working on a business critical matter for my company. Managed to log into a meeting with the client yesterday but could barely speak as I have laryngitis.

RockingAmadeus · 24/07/2024 06:28

Same here, no sore throat though. No energy or strength, aching all over. Again used an old COVID test which was negative.

Elsewhere123 · 24/07/2024 06:46

Getting an electronic thermometer that you can use easily is very useful. You can then say'my temp has gone up to 38 and stayed there for 24hours' when asking advice from a medic. Also if my temp is say 36.5 when I feel crap and doesn't go up I know I'm fighting the bug..and I feel better. PS ATM I am covered in spot but temp is 36.5 so...

Hi all. I left the test on my kitchen counter and just walked in now to find a second line appeared - so it’s positive.

I’ve just done another test now and a second faint line has also slowly appeared.

But these tests have expired so I’m going to get new ones. Urgh how annoying!!!

I had this and it was Covid. Tested positive for 12 days and a week later I'm still feeling nauseous and getting hot. Not happy.

AdultChildQuestion · 25/07/2024 08:00

COVID is absolutely rife at the moment. I work in a school and most of us had it last week.

SmartyFace · 25/07/2024 08:30

Yep I've got it too, I can't believe how many people I know have got it. I'm the only one in my household with it currently. Not looking forward to the DC inevitably coming down with it in the next few days 😫

bottomsup12 · 25/07/2024 08:43

Yes our household currently suffering with it! Same thing by sounds of it, not covid but sore throat, cough, sinus congestion headache extreme tiredness.

noidea098 · 25/07/2024 08:52

Hope everyone feels better soon!! It’s really not pleasant. Praying I don’t lose my taste and smell again!!!

Most of my family are down with covid and have your symptoms

Winglessvulture · 25/07/2024 11:50

My daughter was unwell last week, and then my mum and I both came down with sore throats, chills, body aches etc over the weekend. I felt terrible on Monday and Tuesday, and discovered my torso, upper legs and arms were covered in a rash (looks like I have spent too long in the sun or a s hot bath) by Tuesday afternoon. Sore throat is now gone and felt less fatigued yesterday but that has come back with a vengeance today and the rash is still here.

Neither my daughter or mum have the rash so not sure why I have. I was worried about scarlet fever but as the rash doesn't really feel rough and the sore throat had improved yesterday the GP thought it was viral. Took a COVID test today and it was negative. No idea what it is though!
