I have the chance of two nights away in early September with DH and no children. Can anyone suggest a lovely hotel or possibly high end b&b?
Definitely not after family hotel vibe!
Probs around Hampshire / Dorset

How about The Pig on the beach in The Purbecks?

How about The Pig on the beach in The Purbecks?

Was also going to suggest one of the Pigs, there's one in the New Forest too. Really nice.

Icanttakethisanymore · 23/07/2024 21:06

Oh - they have The pig in the new forest too (not been to that one) although I love The Purbecks.

Ha! Just realised this looking at their website!

Hmm, Pig Hotel. I quite often visit one near home for lunch and have never been inclined to stay as it always feels so busy as they have so many day guests for the dining.

Worth paying to stay?

Outbuildings, Bridlort. Nici in Bournemouth, Kings Arns, Dorchester, Summer Lodge, Evershot, Lime Wood in the New Forrest - I really like that hotel! Heckfield Place, Hook.

Birmingbacon · 23/07/2024 21:18

Limewood. It’s my favourite.

doubleshift · 23/07/2024 21:19

Can you walk to the beach from
The Dorset pig?

Lime wood not available when we want (except for one of the ridiculous ££££ rooms)

Nici looks nice with a pool possibly but it's quite big with 80 rooms

@TizerorFizz some lively ideas there - Dorchester looks nice as does Summer Lodge but that looks a little more like what my parents would choose.

Lovely not lively 🤣

Chewton Glen
Pig in the Forest
Limewood
Rhinefield House
Pebble Beach
The Retreat on the A35

Talkinpeace · 23/07/2024 21:26

Oh and never forget the Seaside Boarding House in Burton Bradstock
or the Bridport Arms in West Bay
or Eypes Mouth Hotel

TizerorFizz · 23/07/2024 21:36

Bridport!

harridan50 · 23/07/2024 21:37

The Old Rectory Exmoor

Soporalt · 23/07/2024 21:47

The Bull in Bridport

doubleshift · 23/07/2024 23:29

Some of these are lovely but prices of some English hotels are a joke!
I'm liking the Nici and actually a Harbour hotel in Christchurch.
The Bridport pubs look good too but possibly not for this trip. Smile

Yep - you can walk to the beach from The Pig on the Beach. I’ve not stayed as we have a flat nearby but have eaten there. It’s a lovely spot.

Elsewhere123 · 24/07/2024 06:49

Passford house hotel near Sway in new forest.

NicoleSkidman · 24/07/2024 06:53

The Alexander in Lyme Regis.

Katrinawaves · 24/07/2024 07:01

Harbour Hotel in Christchurch is lovely, as is Rhinefeld House. I’ve only been to Chewton Glen for afternoon tea but that was a real treat! There is also Balmer Lawn in Brockenhurst.

peakyb · 10/01/2025 23:09

Bumping this for any further ideas as I have exactly the same requirement!

Imhereyetagain · 11/01/2025 01:32

Oooh I love Rheinefield House. Smack bang in the nicest bit of the New Forest.

The Pigs are nice but over priced for what they are.

piscofrisco · 11/01/2025 07:07

@Soporalt DH and I had our first ever weekend away at The Bull in Bridport. We loved it!

Bobbyelvis4ever · 11/01/2025 20:19

I second chewton glen as being great. I haven't stayed at Burley Manor in the New Forest, but have been for food / drinks several times, and would recommend
