Odd Christmas + family + pleasure question

For those of you who celebrate Christmas and who visit family or host them around then, do you have actual pleasure in seeing them? Or do you see them out of habit, duty and expectation?

Just curious. I didn't grow up in a family where we really visited anyone.

Yes, it is July but I was listening to A Christmas Carol earlier and it made me wonder (okay, that makes this worse but the audiobook was well narrated and I'm clearing out my In Progress list!)

I love seeing my immediate family at Christmas. Not bothered about remote relatives.

I think out of duty, as I get older I'd love to hire a cottage in the middle of nowhere with a roaring fire and just immediate family.

I suspect their answers would have a touch of bias. Being so fond of Christmas (I'm guessing) they'll think the more the merrier.
