There's are 100 locusts inside this bag. There is card inside egg box type. But the locusts are not in anything in the bag they are loose in there. So how am I going to open it without them ending up all over the place.

No, fridge storage is only to send them into a sleeper/dormant state. So 5-10 minutes to cool them. But they will wake up QUICKLY so have everything to hand all laid out ready to minimise escapees.

Do shake them ina pinch of nutrobal/d3 supplement and alternate between that and calcium. This prevents metabolic bone diseases. I guess you have a decent quality uvb lamp?

I used to breed beardies, they are a great species. I also used to breed royal pythons, each eating snakes, hedgehogs and various Species of tortoises.

This has been quite an education. People keep live locusts in their fridge 😱😱😱 it's bad enough walking past them in the pet shop.

We have snakes to. there's frozen rats and mice in my freezer

The locusts are alive?

I don't mind snakes, spiders, lizards... any of those.
Cockroaches and their ilk freak me out. Dead would be manageable...

Guess a dragon is off my wish list!

PuttingDownRoots · 23/07/2024 12:06

Did these locusts come with your frozen rats?

This has properly made me laugh, the idea of opening the bag and a hundred locusts swarming out has really tickled me. (In a slightly horrified way)

You need one of those plastic tanks from a pet shop surely? Then open the bag inside it? Obviously it probably won’t contain all of them but better than just having loose locusts!

🤣 that would be a madness imagine all the screaming and panic. Could be a way to keep my kids out of the living room for a few days 🤔

They just look like colorful grass hoppers really . Just a bit of an arse to sort out . Be ok once I'm used to it though

Years ago, abroad, my brother kept tree frogs and fed them live crickets. Every so often, we'd be watching TV and a cricket would hop past across the floor- never to be seen again! 😬

He also kept snakes! 1 time, a corn snake disappeared and was never found. He then got mice- and 1 of those escaped. I always had visions of a massive python living under our house living off all the escaped animals! 😆

ImPunbelievable · 23/07/2024 20:49

Why do they have to be alive?

Sunshineafterthehail · 23/07/2024 20:51

You need a pop up paddling pool. Then your dragon can go hunting!!

Why do they have to be alive?

It's what's needed for their diet
